Becoming an iOS Beta Tester for Puzzlebox Orbit

  • While we wait for Apple to approve our iOS application for Puzzlebox Orbit, we would like to extend an invitation to our Kickstarter backers and early adopters to join our beta testing team.

Update: We have received the following notice from Apple:

"Important: Your iOS Developer Program membership can be terminated if you provide pre-release Apple Software to anyone other than employees, contractors, and members of your organization who are registered as Apple Developers and have a demonstrable need to know or use Apple Software in order to develop and test applications on your behalf. Unauthorized distribution of Apple Confidential Information (including pre-release Apple Software) is prohibited and may subject you to both civil and criminal liability."

  • As such we require that everyone submitting to become an iOS beta tester for Puzzlebox Orbit to be registered as an Apple developer and also registered on this development tracker with the intention of providing testing data and feedback on our application. Finally an agreement form is required to confirm we can grant any individual access to our compiled software.
  • We reserve the right to limit the number of active developers in the Beta Tester program in respect of Apple's restrictions. Please be aware that all source code is already available for online browsing and download and therefore anyone can compile our software for their device independently.

Joining the Team

  • To begin, please register and login to your account on the Puzzlebox Orbit development tracker (where this Wiki article is hosted).
  • Next, we are using a popular, free tool called TestFlight for helping us to distribute our application to our beta testers. The application automatically collects and reports testing data during normal use of the software.
  • Through this program, we are limited to 100 beta testers at any one time
  • Please note: After our app becomes available in the App Store in order to make room on our beta tester team we will begin clearing out users who have not reported feedback in our Forums or Development Tracker

Getting your UUID

  • After you have joined our team, we will need to add the UUID from your iOS device to our developer profile, so it can be tracked as 1 of the 100 available beta testing accounts
  • A popular tool for retrieving and submitting the UUID from an iOS device is called "UUIDViewer" and is available as a free download from the App Store

  • After your UUID is displayed press the "send UUID via mail" button
  • Please send the email with your UUID to support@… (You need to be registered and logged into our development tracker to see the full address. See above.)

Receive your beta tester invitation

  • We will need to confirm that you have registered as a developer both with Apple as well as with Puzzlebox. Please fill out our online agreement form.
  • After receiving your Agreement form and UUID email, we at Puzzlebox have to confirm each form and enter every UUID we receive manually into our Apple developer profile, generate a file, and update our TestFlight account. This may take some time depending on our current workload, so please be patient.
  • Once we have added your UUID to our account, you should receive an email inviting you to install the Puzzlebox Orbit application
