Description

The app in both demo and connected to the headset only has intermittent flight response. Using iPad and iPhone5 the app seems to be working fine and then the blue light on the dongle comes on when it should but the Orbit does not always respond. Sometimes it takes off, but most times it doesnt. Both in demo mode as well as when connected with MWM. Everything is fully charged and vlume of headphone is maximum. Is there any adjustment needed to the IR Receiver on the Orbit?

FYI, the same audio file is used whether in demo mode or during direct control, so ostensibly there should not be a difference between one method or the other.

First thing that would be recommended to check in such an instance such as described above is that the Orbit helicopter has not timed out. If the helicopter has not received a control signal in the last 15-30 seconds, it may time out and go into a "sleep mode" which prevents battery loss. Normally the best procedure is to power-cycle (turn off and then back on) the helicopter. This should be done in between any flight attempts as a matter of good practice.

As an internal note to developers, it may be that the audio file being used to fly the Orbit is "paused" and not restarted in between flights. This would mean the initialization sequence at the start of the WAV (which tells the IR dongle to prepare to transmit control signals) is not being sent to the dongle on the later flights (until the WAV loops around again). In this case the light would indeed turn on on the dongle, but the control signal would not be emitted. This should be investigated.

This issue should now be resolved as of the latest version of the source code in the repository.

The update will make it into the next major release which, if all goes well, should be in the next week or so.

The intention is to leverage both the beta tester program (for early access to the fix to interested parties) as well as submit to Apple for approval.

Puzzlebox Orbit version 1.0.1 includes this patch and has been submitted to Apple for distribution in the App Store.
