Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Description

I previously had the Motorola Droid and couldn't get it working, but have since upgraded to the Note 2 and it still doesn't work, however I'm seeing a different problem on the Note 2. Similar to the person with the problem on the Galaxy S3, I can't get the dongle to light up at all when I plug it in. It lights up on my old Droid, so I know the dongle is working. I've tried all the suggestions on getting it to work, and the Note 2 sees the dongle as headphones that were plugged in, but it never lights up even though the volume is maxed and nothing else is playing. I get the same results in i-helicopter as well.

5 months and nothing? Have there been any updates to the software that will help it work with more phones? The Note 2 is a very popular phone, I don't understand why you can't make it work with it. I've been extremely patient, but this is getting very disappointing that I still can't use this cool product yet.

Beege-

We're very sorry about the delayed response.

The main issue is that unless we actually have physical access to the phone in question, we can't perform any testing or make any changes to our software to add support.

Many mobile application developers solve this by contracting a service which does the testing for them. The service actually goes out and buys every popular model of phone and tablet, performs the testing, and reports back. Normally this is used to solve simple problems such as the interface being rendered poorly. We investigated this, but due to the hardware nature of our product we weren't able to find a suitable service. Specifically, we need the Orbit helicopter tested with each phone, and if there is a problem then we need to tweak our code slightly and test again. As our code is actually producing a WAV audio file for controlling the helicopter, dozens of tweaks to volume, frequency, amplitude, and other settings are necessary. As a result no testing service we contacted was able to help us.

Regards your specific issue though, we did manage to get our hands on a Samsung Galaxy Note back in February, and recorded this video to YouTube (posted in April):

As you can see the helicopter flies correctly under the 1.1.1 version of our software on the original Galaxy Note, without issue. Unfortunately it appears Samsung made changes to their audio hardware between the Note 1 and Note 2 which is affecting performance for you. We will reach out to our friends and professional contacts once again to see if anyone has a Note 2 which we can borrow for testing. Please understand that we are as yet a small team and excepting the Kickstarter campaign, entirely self-funded. Without investment we don't have the capital on hand to go out and spend several thousands of dollars on phone hardware during each product cycle (the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is due out soon). But we will do the best we can to solve your issue as soon as possible.

Thank you.

User reports back:

"This latest version finally works with my Note 2, thanks! All features are working perfectly."

Ticket closed and Orbit Device Compatibility wiki page updated

Original message:

"Before going ahead with this I decided to play around some more with the latest version of the Orbit software. It took a couple attempts, but I'm very happy to report that it seems to work with my Note 2 now! I don't know what you guys did, but thanks! I have other IR helicopters that still don't work with this phone, but somehow you guys figured it out. So it looks like I'm all set, I don't need the pyramid after all. I had a lot of fun finally getting to play with the Orbit and fly it with my mind. Very cool. :"
