1 | This app is for demonstrating the control of a helicopter through the NeuroSky Mindwave headset. |
---|
2 | |
---|
3 | Ensure the dongle which plugs into the phone's headphone socket is inserted (you may need to remove the cover from your phone) and the headphone volume is maximum. |
---|
4 | Also ensure the helicopter is fully charged and switched on. |
---|
5 | |
---|
6 | You should pair the headset with the phone. In your iPhone settings press General -> Bluetooth. Ensure Bluetooth is switched on then turn the headset on and hold in the 'pair' position for 3 seconds. The Mindwave Mobile headset should appear as a device in the list after a few seconds. Press on it to pair then launch this Orbit app. |
---|
7 | |
---|
8 | The app first looks for a Mindwave device via bluetooth and receives Attention and Meditation signals from it. Once the threshold for either is reached it begins playing a wav file which causes the helicopter to fly. |
---|
9 | |
---|
10 | There are 4 output bars and 2 input sliders. The sliders set the minimum threshold for Attention and Meditation. |
---|
11 | The Attention and Meditation output bars show the level of concentration. You can find out more about this on the Neurosky website: http://neurosky.com/Products/MindWave.aspx |
---|
12 | The attention meter has more emphasis on beta wave, and the meditation meter has more emphasis on alpha wave. |
---|
13 | |
---|
14 | The signal bar is the strength of the signal received from the headset, if this is zero the app is not receiving any signal. Ensure it's on, within range of the phone and seated properly on the head. Sometimes this takes some slight adjustments to get a signal. |
---|
15 | The hover bar is the volume the sound file is played to make the helicopter fly. The higher the Attention and Meditation the greater the volumne and therefore the height of the helicopter. |
---|
16 | |
---|
17 | The demo button allows you to test the app without the headset, and the phone will display simple log messages indicating received signals. |
